From "Gemstones of The World" by: Walter Schumann:
Aquamarine is crystalline Al2Be3Si6O18 aluminum beryllium silicate.
"Aquamarine (Latin—water of the sea) is so named because of its seawater color. A dark blue is the most desired color. The coloring agent is iron, Lower qualities are heated to 725-850 degrees F (400-450 degrees C) to change them to the desired permanent aquamarine blue. Higher heat will lead to discoloration. Care must be taken when making jewelry! Colors can also be improved with neutron and gamma irradiation, but these changes do not last. Aquamarine is brittle and sensitive to pressure. Inclusions of fine, oriented hollow rods or aligned foreign minerals rarely cause a cat’s eye effect or asterism with six-rayed stars with a vivid sheen."
From "The Crystal Bible" by: Judy Hall:
"Aquamarine is useful for sore throats, swollen glands, and thyroid problems. It harmonizes the pituitary and the thyroid, regulating hormones and growth. This stone has a general tonic effect. It strengthens the body's cleansing organs and aids the eyes, jaw and teeth, and stomach. It is useful for counteracting short- or long- sightedness and calms overreactions of the immune system and
autoimmune diseases such as hay fever."
For healing, take the spirit of a stone with your spirit and put it in your spirit's pocket, don't put the physical stone in your physical pocket (but you can do so, but additionally..). The spirit is what physically heals. None of this is proven, so use your own discretion when working with gemstones
