SC 191206-S - Chinese Army troops, headed for the front in the Salween River Campaign, in motor convoy down that portion of the Burma Road in Chinese hands, accompanied by American engineers of the Y-Force Operations Staff. Following the initial crossing of the Salween River, the Chinese troops on Marshal Wei Li Huang, accompanied by the American liaison officers under Brigadier General Frank Dorn, pushed forward through the mountains west of the river in a pincers movement coordinated with the drive of Lieut. General Joseph W. Stilwell's Chinese troops in North Burma, designed to break the Japanese blockade of the Burma Road so supplies can be brought into China from India. China-Burma-India Theater 1944.
