This kit contains approx. 300 ct. Blue Oyster Spawn Plugs, enough to inoculate 8-10 four ft. freshly-cut soft hardwood such as poplar or maple logs (with a diameter of about 6-10 inches.) This is a great garden project for the aspiring mushroom grower. Instructions are sent with each plug kit. In addition to the plugs and logs you will need a 5/16 drill bit with an 1 inch stop (to drill the holes), a hammer or rubber mallet (to pound the plugs in), some wax to cover the inoculation sites and 4 cement blocks that keep the crib-stacked logs off the ground in a shady area. With proper conditions the plugged logs should produce mushrooms for 3 to 5 years or until the log is composted.
