Shungite is a beautiful natural rare black carbonaceous stone. It is estimated to be approx. 2 BILLION years old!. This specimen comes Shunga, Karelia, Russia.
This shungite is composed of 50 - 70 carbon. Another form of shungite, called " elite ( or noble) shungite" has a silvery black luster. This material is even rarer and comprises only 1 % of shungite. This is the purest (98%) form.
ALL SHUNGITE IS RARE! Fullerenes, a rare element within the stone are purported  to be intimately associated with the properties described below.
Shungite has shown to protective against UV skin damage and has antioxidative and anti-inflammatory properties.
