Description

Listed here is a USED set of Volvo Penta Upper Gears.  This gearset is a Genuine OEM Volvo Penta set NOT an aftermarket replacement.  DRIVE GEAR HAS LARGER AMOUNT OF WEAR THAN IS USUALLY ACCEPTABLE.  I have pointed out some of the more significant damage with a pick in the pictures.  The driven gears have surface wear and pitting.  Came from a drive that was operable at time of disassembly.  I'm assuming they were operating without any problems due to the fact that the 3.0L they were designed for does not put out very much horsepower.  This set is for a gear case with a 2:18 gear ratio which is usually used in conjunction with the 3.0L in line 4 cylinder engine but can vary for different applications.  The kit these gears are sold in lists for almost 00 new from Volvo Penta.  I would NOT reuse the drive gear if at all possible (drive gear is the one that connects to the yoke shaft).  The part numbers that this set are compatible with are 3856996........3842273.......and 21130693 which is a complete rebuild kit.  The parts you see pictured are the actual parts you will receive with nothing extra and were used on many Volvo Penta drives from 1995ish to 2006ish (depending on where your boat was on the assembly line).  This set came off of a 2004 SX-M that had lower casing damage.  Please note it is important to get the proper gears for your gear case.  NOTE:  THE GEARS WILL COME SHIPPED COVERED IN CORROSION INHIBITOR TO PROTECT THEM.....THIS CAN EASILY BE REMOVED WITH BRAKE CLEANER.  If you have any questions or need help with compatibility please feel free to contact me and I will help you to the best of my abilities.  Thank you for your interest.  Steve :)
