Description
Sterling silver handwrought cuff bracelet, die-struck in individual letter strikes on the inside band "Merry Christmas 1980" and "H.S.R.". The bracelet weighs 46.1 pennyweights, and measures 2 3/8 inches across by 2 inches deep (inside measures) and tapers from 1/2 inch to 3/8 inch in width by approximately 1/4 inch thickness. Marked on the inside of the narrower end of the band "Reinhardt", "Handwrought", and "Sterling" (for Richard H. Reinhardt 1921-1998, of Newtown Square, PA, a master silversmith who headed the industrial design department of the Philadelphia College of Art in the 1960's and is now represented in several museum collections). There are tiny nicks and very fine scratches on the rope braid and raised central bar, otherwise in good condition. It seems quite likely that this bracelet was made as a personal presentation piece by Richard Reinhardt - it is intriguing to conjecture to whom the initials "H.S.R." might belong. We are now also listing for sale on eBay another bracelet by Reinhardt with similarly die-struck letters "....Cindy Reinhardt...." and the date "8.26.93" as well as a "Taho" wire twist cuff bracelet acquired in the same group of jewelry.
